Wash your bricks with soapy water and a stiff bristle brush, then wait until they dry completely before applying paint (usually 24 hours). If soap and water aren’t enough to clean your bricks, a mixture of PTS should eliminate stubborn dirt. Mix half a cup of TSP with a gallon of water and give the bricks another pass so they can dry completely afterwards. A word of caution: Never use acidic solutions to clean the bricks! This can lead to peeling your color.
